Club Update – Irrigation Upgrades Delayed
Queens Park Golf Course Update from the City of Greater Geelong
Queens Park Golf Club
Letter to Members
14th September 2020
As a valued member of the Queens Park Golf Club, the City of Greater Geelong would like to inform you about progress on the upcoming golf course irrigation upgrade for the Queens Park precinct.
Due to issues in securing external permits and restrictions on awarding financial contracts during the local government election period, we are now scheduled to go out for tender on the project in November.
The major works originally planned for late October are now scheduled to begin in February 2021 and are expected to be completed by the middle of 2021.
While the unavoidable delay is unfortunate, it does provide some advantages.
It will allow this year’s Club Championships to go ahead uninterrupted and provides extra times for a broader range of contractors to express an interest in the project.
Competition under COVID-19 guidelines will be uninterrupted during the peak summer season and the ground works can be carried out in more favourable conditions.
We are committed and excited to deliver the project as it will improve the quality of all the facilities at Queens Park Golf Club and provide a much better experience for all members.
The ageing irrigation infrastructure will be replaced with a more efficient and sustainable new system, extending coverage to all playable areas of the course, including the driving range.
More uniform water application will help create lush, consistent green fairways that will have the course both looking better and playing better.
We’re working closely with the Queens Park Golf Committee on all aspects of the project and we’re committed to providing you regular progress updates.
If you have any questions, please contact Lyn Johnstone on 5272 4353 or your Club President Wayne Colbourne on 0455 503 558.
